Welcome to the Crowle Community Forum.

Crowle is the principal market town to the north of the Isle of Axholme in Lincolnshire. It is located to the west of the River Trent between Scunthorpe and Doncaster

The town has an rich heritage and I hope that you will find out more about our interesting market town town as you browse this site.

Heritage Open Days 2008
Friday 12th September: 2.00pm - 5.00pm
Saturday 13th September: 10.00am - 5.00pm
Sunday 14th September : 2.00pm - 5.00pm

As part of the national Heritage Open Days 2008 Crowle & Ealand Heritage Society welcome you to Crowle where with the support of the Churches you will be able to find out more about the heritage of our interesting town.


The following churches and chapels will be open over the weekend:

Parish Church: See the Crowle Stone - an interesting anglo-saxon stone inscribed with celtic patterns a runic inscription.

Roman Catholic Church:

Baptist Chapel: Although the chapel itself only dates from 1879 the Baptist congregation in the Isle of Axholme is one of the earliest in the country and was formed in 1599.

Unfortunately the Methodist chapel will not be open during the weekend as it is undergoing a major refurbishment.

Whilst in Crowle you may also wish to follow our heritage trail around this interesting market town.
